🦇 🚨 Batman 2022 Spoiler: 🚨 🦇
Yeah but you know the part where he’s talking to Falcone about his parents and he’s all teary-eyed and his lips are trembling and he’s speaking so softly
Showing that vulnerability in a character like Batman, a character who is usually hyper-masculine and stoic, is what really set this movie apart for me. This Bruce feels so deeply; his trauma is written all over his face. This is not a cocky playboy party animal billionaire douche, this is a mentally ill young man whose entire worldview is being shattered.
And then at the end he sees that his violence is only begetting more violence. He sees that yes, he’s scaring the shit out of the criminals but he’s also setting an example for them. The city that he loves is terrified and he’s partially responsible for that.
So he decides to change.
Bruce’s love for his city will always be his greatest strength. It makes him vulnerable to more devastating loss—the one thing he fears above all else—and he still makes the conscious choice to be kind.
His kindness takes so much more bravery than his violence.
the difference between The Batman and every other Batman movie that’s come before it and what makes it so very superior is that I can fully, genuinely believe that this Batman would—nay, will—adopt a gaggle of at least 10 or so crimefighting sidekick gremlin children just in the coming year alone
never has a Batman movie been more accurate to its source material
The Batman thoroughly fucking embarrassed the dark knight series. this is the first batman movie to ever actually understand batman, at least in a noir/grimdark sense. he walks around his dirty gothic mansion in an oversized tshirt and sunglasses indoors. he isn’t “playboy billionaire philanthropist”, he’s a genuinely good person whose heart is breaking for people who have felt the same pain he has. he makes like.. zero public appearances. he wears messy eyeliner and tells Alfred that he’s not his real dad. he’s an actual goddamn detective. he has the body of a martial artist, not a bodybuilder. he hasn’t fucked in years. HES A FUCKING NOIR DETECTIVE. he’s back to working directly with Gordon instead of having like,, multiple warrants out for his arrest. the focus is on family and grief, not romance or rage. if you’re gonna do batman without any robins, this movie is the absolute perfect way to do it. I’m in love.
also catwoman bisexual.
There shall be a great cry in all of Egypt, such as never has been or ever will be again.
